My fellow triathletes know how crappy it is to finish a triathlon and then, get in a car. Maybe you’ll soak a bit in the ice-filled baths in the recovery tent. Maybe you are all sweaty and the stink is starting to kick in. Maybe you forgot to bring a towel and have to improvise with other clothes, making for a very uncomfortable ride.
Whoa Nelly, is that about to change…
Team Toyota asked their triathletes, Sarah Haskins, Andy Potts and Hunter Kemper if they could design a RAV4 for them. And what they got was a dream car for every age-grouper who just wants to be comfortable during the ride back.
This RAV4 comes with a 5-gallon fresh water shower. It’s in the back and the window is tinted and high enough so you can’t see Potts showering (damn it!). There is a spin dryer for all your wet clothes, gear storage compartments, a hang loop in the shower to drip-dry your wet suit, a little fridge for your post-comp nutrition, a snacks cupboard and a blender for those fruit smoothies you might be craving.
After you’re all dressed and ready, the front seat is equipped and can provide Shiatsu-styled massages to help you out for those kinks while you check your race results on the integrated iPad. Rack two bikes on the roof and you are ready to roll. You can even move the Bluetooth speakers around the car so that you can listen to your music.
The car is being used for the aforementioned athletes but I get the feeling that if enough people ask for it, they might go into proper production of the car. As it is, this is a custom-made model so who knows? In order to fit all these extras, it is a two-seater so if they do end up selling it, buyer beware.
